Germany network modernization
Since August 2025, the cybersecurity landscape has shifted dramatically with the emergence of the "Aisirus" botnet. Capable of generating a staggering 30 Tbit/s of malicious traffic, it was a game changer for the entire industry. The majority of hosting providers simply were not ready for an attack of this magnitude. Aisirus initially targeted US-based companies before moving to Europe, setting its sights on major hosting providers—and eventually, we became one of its targets.
Even though our network’s standard mitigation capacity was around 5 Tbit/s, it was not enough to absorb the sheer volume of this new threat.
Our Response: Massive Network Upgrades
We immediately worked closely with our connectivity provider, dataforest, who took swift action. They initially implemented Gcore's prefiltering, which proved to be a solid solution, neutralizing about 99% of the attacks. However, the most severe waves were still capable of crippling even Gcore’s massive infrastructure.
To stop the attacks directly at their source, dataforest added a new upstream provider: NTT. While this solution had some minor teething issues in the first few days, they were quickly resolved. Still, simply surviving was not the goal—total mitigation was.
To achieve this, the network architecture was radically expanded. The maincubes and firstcolo datacenters were deeply connected to increase internal mitigation capacity. Following this, a third datacenter was brought online and interconnected with the others. Finally, after weeks of preparation, hardware deployment, and on-site labor, a new major carrier was added to the mix: GTT.
As of May 4, 2026, these long-prepared works are finished. We now operate across 3 fully connected datacenters with a mitigation capacity large enough to absorb even the biggest attacks recorded to date.
Responsibility, Blame, and Our Commitment to You
During these unprecedented attacks, we received encouraging feedback from many customers telling us that we are not to blame for this downtime. That is incredibly kind of you, and in a technical sense regarding the malicious actors, it is true. However, we want to make a clear distinction between blame and responsibility.
You do not have a contract with dataforest, Gcore, or NTT—you have a contract with Fusiora. As your provider, we bear the ultimate responsibility for the "end product" you receive. If the network fails, regardless of the reason or which upstream provider was hit, it does not meet our standards. We are not simply chalking this up to "shit happens." We have been actively analyzing what measures can be taken to intercept these types of extreme anomalies in the future, resulting in the massive hardware and upstream upgrades mentioned above.
Setting Realistic Uptime Expectations
Of course, we also received negative feedback, and we completely understand. Any outage is frustrating. However, in the face of various allegations, we must take this opportunity to clarify what can be expected of us—and what cannot.
Our network is designed for an annual average availability of >99.98%. We must be honest: due to the scale of the Aisirus attacks, we temporarily fell short of that goal. Contractually, most of our service level agreements guarantee 99.9% uptime. While everyone can and should expect much more than 99.9% from us, and we strive for near-perfection, we cannot promise 100% uptime.
To the best of our knowledge, no hosting company on the planet—not even the largest global cloud providers—can offer 100% availability without fail. When a few individuals claim that a temporary network disruption cost them tens of thousands of euros, we must clarify that anyone running a business requiring absolute, uninterrupted 100% uptime must utilize a multi-provider, multi-datacenter failover setup.
We have been in this industry for over 6 years, and we confidently go the extra mile for our customers. We do not kick clients off our services for being targeted by DDoS attacks, a practice common among other hosts. When disruptions occur, we respond in seconds, 24/7/365. We must trully thank Tim and hist colleagues from dataforest for their support and work, especially during Christmas Eve, when there were issues caused by a combination of NTT being brought up and attacks hitting whole datacenters. They were working to resolve that issues even during Christmas instead of spending their time with their families and the closest - a big thanks from us. We are not aware of any provider who would do that.
Currently a really small issues with Equinix and internal links remains and will be solved within next few hours/days.
We will never stop learning from these challenges and investing heavily to prevent them. We appreciate your loyalty and patience as we built an infrastructure capable of weathering the biggest storms the internet has to offer.
Game Panel upgrades
While the network team was hard at work fortifying the network stability, our software developers were equally busy completely revamping our Game Panel. Dynamic Mitigation Control: Seamlessly switch between various mitigation profiles. You now have the flexibility to toggle between symmetric and asymmetric filtering, depending on the severity and characteristics of the incoming traffic.
Automated Alerting: Configure custom webhooks to receive immediate notifications on your preferred platforms the moment an attack is detected.
This update represents a major step forward in giving you the autonomy and visibility needed to keep your projects secure and online. This manager is available for all VPS and Dedicated Server customers with service location in Germany. We still will be happy to help you setting and configuring your DDoS protection trough tickets.
Enhanced VPS Backups & Data Security
To ensure the highest level of protection for your virtual private servers, we have completely overhauled our VPS backup infrastructure. The system has been fundamentally reworked to significantly reduce failure rates and improve overall reliability. Furthermore, we have introduced a new redundant backup system, adding a critical layer of security to your server's data.
The Principle of Shared Responsibility
While we have built a highly resilient infrastructure, the ultimate responsibility for data security always rests with the user. We strongly encourage everyone to maintain independent backups of all critical files and databases. If you need assistance, our support team is more than happy to help you set up automated, external MySQL backups so your data remains accessible to you at all times, independent of our network.
Best Practices for Critical Data
Whether it applies to your hosting environment or personal files, relying on a single point of failure is never recommended. For true peace of mind, we advise following a robust, multi-tiered backup strategy:
1 backup stored within our Fusiora manager.
1 backup kept securely in an external cloud storage provider.
1 backup saved on a local, offline medium.
1 backup stored in an additional, physically separate safe location.
Only through strict redundancy—not just with your hosting provider, but across all important data in your life—can you truly guarantee the safety of your digital assets.
The Future with Fusiora
